For many Christians (but not all of them) Easter is upon us and is a time for celebrating suffering death and rebirth. This year the Orthodox Church celebrates Easter next week.
Easter is a festival that I have never completely understood. It is harder to understand than Christmas, which celebrates a birth. For me as a child Easter was the least important holiday period in the year. We started with Christmas, then came to Easter, then came my birthday and the Guy Fawkes Night and then back to Christmas. We did not celebrate New Year, or Halloween and were completely unaware of the holy days of other faiths.
Christmas was best, followed closely by my birthday. Easter came third.
I have lived through many Easters and instead of trying to communicate to you thoughts of suffering death and rebirth which I imperfectly understand, I simply wish you all peace this year.
