I was in Rome with President Obama. We never met although he met the Pope in the Vatican and I met some good people in the bar of an hotel.

Mr Obama let a huge impact on the city. People were delayed and inconvenienced so that the most powerful elected politician on the planet could met a man who controls no divisions but the behaviour of millions.

I saw the remains of the Roman Civilisation, such  as it was and such as are left to see.Mr Obama must have seen them too. I wonder if he, in his humility, if he has any left now, could envisage a time when someone would look on the remains of American civilisation such as it was.
