Just In Case

There is a lot of weather in the world at the moment. The United Kingdom is drenched with rain which has been falling consistently for weeks and as a result there is widespread flooding. The United States of America is suffering a cold spell as Arctic winds blow down the mid-west bring snowstorms and temperatures of minus 30 degrees. Australia has had its warmest recorded year in 2013 since records began in 1910. There have been bush fires which have broken out in the remarkable heat. The Philippines have experienced severe weather in 2013; unprecedented tropical storms struck the islands.

One swallow does not a summer make, nor one fine day. Several severe weather events do not prove anthropogenic climate change. However, as a matter of sensible precaution we should plan on the basis that everywhere on the earth will experience more and more extreme weather events, just in case.
