A renewable heat incentive and hot air

The Green Party, which has a single Member of Parliament, Caroline Lucas, has rightly been campaigning and lobbying for the government to get on and implement a renewable heat incentive. If the United Kingdom’s targets for emissions reductions are to have any meaning, then there has to be a renewable heat incentive. If the United Kingdom wants to show leadership on climate change then it must do more than incentivise the production of clean electricity; it must incentivise the production of clean heat and put clean heat on the same footing as renewable electricity.
