Today the Para Olympics end. I am glad that they will end. Frankly, it is about time that London got back to work. One way or another since Easter there have been many events and celebrations in London and so many additional holidays that it is inevitable that the economy has suffered. Economic activity depends on work, not on non-work. All the promised that the Olympics would bring great prosperity to London which would more than compensate for the additional taxes that Londoners and others have had to pay for the Olympics and the Para-Olympics have proved nonsense. Shops have sold less than usual during the games and tourists attractions failed to be attractive as visitors concentrated on the games, the whole games and nothing but the games.
