In Southern Russia terrible floods caused by unprecedented rainfall have killed three hundred souls mostly as they slept. In England where there have been bad floods caused by unprecedented July rainfall followed by unprecedented June rainfall no one has yet died. Despite what may appear ro be the case, many flood defence works planed and executed several years ago have ket many rivers from flooding leaving just surface water flooding to wreck homes and property, rather than take lives.
It is time to tackle the cause of these floods rather than the consequences of them. In England our climate future may well be Spring droughts and Summer floods; hose pipe bans in February and water everywhere in July.
The point about global warming is that it changes the climate we know not how. Generally most of those who have studied the likely changes of this most complex of subjects think more intense, more extreme weather will happen over the times when the climate slowly changes. The changes may be subtle when taken over a hemisphere, but drastic when taken over a city or a county.
The rain will not fall forever, Drought may return but before it does we must fear the wind. After the equinox Britain traditionally experiences gales. If the gales are stronger than normal the effect of wind on trees which keep their leaves longer as a result of the changing climate and are anchored in soft ground as a result of these unprecedented summer rains will mean that gales will fell many trees, risking not just life but also property.
It is not too late to insure against these events; insurance must be bought in terms of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and emission control, not just by the United Kingdom, but by the whole world.

this post makes you sound like king Chanute !
The answer is not is some plaintive sacrifice to Gaia rather it lies in being better prepared to respond to natural disasters which are going to happen no matter what you think the cause may be. Further when it comes to the disaster in Russia who is surprised that they have had so many deaths? their reputation for incompetence and corruption is unmatched in the industrialised world.
Might I suggest that when it comes to the water supplies in Blighty that you guys learn to use less when it is plentiful so that you have more stocks when it is in short supply just as those of us who have water tanks here in Oz have had to do since the dawn of time. Further have you considered the notion that the water shortages you have experienced are as much a function of the population in the UK as they are about the amount of water available?
I think that a few ritual sacrifices will offer better “insurance”
Who shall we start with? politicians, bankers?
Bank owners first, then take back our freedom by supporting ourselves not leaning upon the proles and slaves working for the same cyclical paradigm.
Take control of our resorces which are being stolen by force then sold back to us at a profit.
The rain like the money needs a something to adhere to……..Physical pollution is the catylist, try not to confuse that with the no poisonous ans non visible gas and every plants best freind.
As we industrialise so do we produce the pollution we can see, where this and precipitation meet it will rain……The technique worked well to prevent rain disturbing the last olympics, where they closed down several hundred factories to prevent the pollution above the area which moisture would have clung to and fallen on the games.
