Humanity is very foolish. Were it wise humanity would be happier and happiness is something worthy of pursuit. Those who founded the United States of America knew that people should be free to pursue happiness, although that pursuit has today morphed into the American Dream, which for much of humanity is a nightmare.
As a species we are endowed with our own kind of foolishness, which seems inalienable. It encompasses sin, greed selfishness, the selfishness of failing to understand that to act in our own interests solely damages the species. We act as though there is a competition to gather the most sunlight, and instead of recognising that we could all gather as much as we can, as individuals, absorb, Some build shelters in order to deprive others of light. The competition is an illusion.
We need wisdom. It is in short supply. It cannot be manufactured, I can merely offer a clue; wisdom is simple, and simple things are very hard to understand.
