Sometimes I think people lack imagination when they try to defer action on global warming, an environmental problem being caused by mankind. Perhaps it is just too hard to picture the devastation that climate change will wreak on our lives. If so, it might be as well to look at other man made environmental problems. If we look to our history books to see just what damage mankind has caused perhaps it will be easier to imagine the future damage that mankind is causing now. In the 1930s in the United States and Canada a major environmental problem made by mankind caused poverty, destruction of fertile land, disease, death and the largest mass migration of humans within America within the shortest period of time – the dust bowl.
