Are we as a society losing the distinction between what is right and what is wrong, and what is criminal behaviour and what is legal behaviour? We are already seeing disquiet amongst both prosecution and defence lawyers that people who have committed crimes which should be dealt with by the courts are being handed out fixed penalty notices. These “disposals” are being used as a matter of course for professional shoplifters and even it is said for burglars. (more…)
