About twenty years ago the Football Association’s director of coaching was a fellow called Charles Hughes. He wrote the coaching guide for English football. Charles Hughes examined football statistics and he unearthed one statistic that he thought was very important. He discovered that most goals were scored with teamwork using less than three passes.
